Light meter is where the camera is trying to focus on the middle of the picture. So it can even out the picture.The difference between the two pictures is the lighting. In the 1st picture it is darker because it focused more on the computer. But in the 2nd picture I did a spot metering on the person face so it focused more on his face and lit him up. It wasn’t just focusing on the computer screen.
If you are ever in a dark place with lights that take all the focus, just go up to the object you want to take the picture of and use spot metering.
